School-Based Health Center Advisory Committee

You are here

The Oregon School-Based Health Alliance (OSBHA) is a nonprofit organization with a mission to strengthen school based health services and systems that promote the health and academic success of young people. We are forming a School-Based Health Center Advisory Committee to help guide and inform the OSBHA work focus and priorities. We want to connect with and better understand the needs and wants of SBHCs in Oregon. We invite anyone working in a school-based health center to apply to join the committee.

Who:  The committee will represent rural, suburban and urban school-based health centers and will include members who work in a variety of SBHC positions, such as providers, youth advisory council coordinators, and medical assistants. Anyone working at a SBHC is welcome to apply.  Applicants from underrepresented communities are encouraged to apply and will be given priority representation.  We seek 10 to 15 members who are able to make a two-year commitment.

Structure:  Quarterly meetings will be held, two hours each, with a combination of in-person, conference call and web participation. Meetings will be held in Portland or Salem initially. Each meeting will focus on a specific topic.  Agendas will be distributed in advance and posted on the OSBHA website, and meeting notes will be posted on the website.

Time Commitment: Two to four hours per month.

Goals: Review and discuss needs in the field and how OSBHA may be able to help meet those needs; identify and highlight what SBHCs do well; identify and address issues that make it hard for SBHCs to meet their goals; explore how SBHCs can add value to the evolving health care system in Oregon.

Benefits of Participation:  Your voice will help shape OSBHA technical assistance and advocacy; you will experience a professional development opportunity; members will be acknowledged on the OSBHA website.
