ACTION ALERT - SBHCs Need You!

Calling all Advocates!

Recently the co-chairs of the Ways and Means Committee, the legislative budget writing committee, released a proposed budget that puts our kids at risk. The proposal includes a significant cut to the state SBHC budget of $2-$3 million. This means school-based health centers are in danger of losing significant and necessary funding.

School-Based Health Center Advisory Committee

The Oregon School-Based Health Alliance is excited to announce the formation of a School-Based Health Center Advisory Committee to help guide and inform the OSBHA work focus and priorities. We want to connect with and better understand the needs and wants of SBHCs in Oregon. We invited anyone working in a school-based health center to apply to join the committee and have recently selected our committee.

Oregonian Highlights Important Discussion about School Involvement in Teen Healthcare

In her article "Teens face birth control barriers at school-based health center" posted on March 30, 2016, 
Oregonian columnist Samantha Swindler brings attention to the important community discussion that is being played out in Hillsboro, Oregon at Century High School concerning a school's involvement in teen health. The Hillsboro community is trying to determine how much a school district should be involved with health care.
