    Wlnsvey has a passion for advocacy for social justice and equitable outcomes. Wlnsvey is the daughter of immigrants. She grew up in rural Oregon and has been proud to make Washington County her home since 2013. She has extensive community organizing experience, has worked in politics and on Healthcare, Housing, and Labor policy, and has served on nonprofit boards. In her free time she enjoys hiking, finding new food spots, drinking boba, and hanging out with her dog and cats!

  • Jessica Chambers (she/her)

    Operations Manager

    Jessica has a passion for non-profit management work, and has provided operations support and management for several Oregon non-profit groups.  She also has several years experience in Government Relations for Human Services, Health Care and Housing non-profits. She is committed to creating policies and procedures that best serve Oregon and create healthy, thriving communities and schools. In her free time Jessica can be found spending time with friends and family playing games, enjoying community and exploring the beautiful outdoors.

    Asia is passionate about health equity, community organizing, and advocating with historically marginalized communities. With being born and raised in Southwest Portland and attending a PWI for college, she grew up in majority white dominant spaces while internally navigating her Asian American identity and she hopes to support others in finding their sense of belonging and strength. With her previous experience in nonprofits, she loves that in her role at OSBHA, she has the opportunity to work with youth in voicing their health needs and learn from them what their priorities are in bettering their wellness. During her free time, Asia loves cooking, visiting her local farmers market, and jamming out to K-pop.

  • Maureen Hinman (she/her)

    Maureen has been an advocate for school health services with the Oregon School-Based Health Alliance for the last nine years and has worked in public health for two decades. Prior to her work with OSBHA, Maureen worked in the Oregon Public Health Division doing program, policy, and operations work, provided health education internationally, and was the administrator of a youth-focused safety net clinic. With OSBHA she has worked with school health providers, school districts, and community partners to support the development of systems of school health supports for students. She has also overseen OSBHA’s policy initiatives, increasing legislative funding to double the number of school-based health centers, and leading development of legislation and technical assistance for Oregon’s trauma informed schools pilot projects.

  • Hannah Smith (she/her)

    Hannah is passionate about community organizing to amplify marginalized voices. She is originally from Ohio, where she started her career in local public health, before moving to Oregon where she found her calling for school health services. Hannah has experience working with multidisciplinary teams to implement health education programming in communities and schools. She strongly believes in youth-adult partnerships to shape policies and systems that support vulnerable populations. Hannah loves building relationships and learning from others. In her free time, she enjoys reading novels, hanging out with her cats, and being in nature.

    Patti is passionate about fostering community connections and empowering youth involvement. She moved to Oregon with her family at age twelve, an experience that shaped her career and gave her a bilingual, bicultural, and equity-centered perspective. With over 15 years of experience in community building, youth engagement, and program development, Patti is dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the communities she serves. In her free time, she is an outdoor enthusiast, plant collector, and cat lover, with a deep curiosity about people and cultures.

  • Jeremiah Rigsby (he/him)

    Co-Chair

    Read Bio

    Jeremiah Rigsby is the Chief of Staff at CareOregon. Jeremiah moved to Oregon in 2011 to attend Lewis and Clark Law School. Before moving to Oregon, Jeremiah was a congressional aide to US Congressman Henry Cuellar (2006-2009) and US Congressman Kurt Schrader (2009-2011). During his time on the Hill, Jeremiah worked on a number of policy issues, but focused on health care policy through the development and passage of the Affordable Care Act. After completing law school, Jeremiah joined CareOregon to help develop and advocate for Medicaid and Medicare policy.

    Keevin is a full scope family physician who daily sees the impact of education on physical and emotional well being. He wants to make prevention of chronic illness part of a life well lived. The more our places of learning can also be places of wellness the better we will all be. He’s excited to be part of the school-based health center movement and to be around passionate and caring people who all want the best for our young learners.

  • Bill Thomas (he/him)

    Read Bio

    Bill joined the Board in 2009 when he was Director of the Washington County Commission on Children and Families. In that role, he was passionate about creating access to affordable primary and mental health care for children and youth. Before he retired in 2017, Bill was the primary instigator for developing and ensuring stable funding for five new School-Based Health Centers (SBHCs) that covered every school district in Washington County. As a result of this work, all six Washington County SBHCs are still operating today.

  • Kasi Woidyla (she/her)

    Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center

    Read Bio

    Kasi is the Director of Communications, Advocacy & Government Policy for Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center, with responsibility for all communications, advocacy, and government relations and policy for the organization’s 18 locations across Washington and Yamhill counties. 

    Previously at Virginia Garcia, she served as the Public Relations Officer for the Foundation, leading the marketing, strategy, public relations and media relations, for the Foundation’s fundraising and events.

    Prior to joining Virginia Garcia in 2016, Kasi served as the Marketing and Development Director for the Oregon International Air Show, helping to grow the local annual event into the largest civilian show on the West Coast. The Air Show saw more than 100,000 people in 2½ days and raised more than $1.5M in support of local charities.

    Kasi also serves on several community boards and advisory councils, ensuring the voices of those often marginalized are heard and included in decision-making processes.

  • Kelly E. Coates, PhD, MPH (she/her)

    Co-Chair

    Read Bio

    Given her passion for systems-level change as a means for mitigating how health barriers to learning affect students’ ability to attend / participate in school, Kelly joined the OSBHA Board in July 2022. She works at CareOregon as an Evaluation Analyst, and is also Affiliate Faculty with the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. In addition, she serves on Oregon’s School Medicaid Advisory Committee to shape recommendations for work surrounding statewide school Medicaid efforts. Kelly also serves on AcademyHealth’s Child Health Services Research Interest Group Advisory Committee, and leads a community of practice to provide a learning and networking space for researchers from around the country. Most of her 20+ year career has been spent in nonprofits, both as staff and as a Board member. She was born and raised in Portland, and when not spending time with her three rescue pups, she revels in all the Pacific Northwest has to offer.

    Sophie is passionate about supporting medically disadvantaged and stigmatized communities, with a special focus on youth and pediatric care. Having lived in Sichuan, Chicago, and now Portland, she actively identifies health challenges within her community and spreads awareness for solutions. A natural performer, Sophie began dancing at the age of 3 and continues to embrace her love for music and dance. She looks forward to building new connections and learning from others as she continues her advocate journey!

  • Cathy Gidley (she/her/hers)

    Cathy was drawn to sales/marketing after completing her studies at Portland State University.  Her career started with Weyerhauser where she was fortunate to see the US through many trade shows and conventions.  A chance encounter with a nonprofit executive provided a new endeavor into fundraising and she never looked back!  Thirty-four years later, after working for, and leading, many local nonprofits, she retired in 2020.  In her spare time, she enjoys participating with the One More Time Again Marching Band and is still passionate about raising funds for favorite nonprofit organizations. 

  • Nicole L. Mayer, MPH (she/they)

    Nicole is a Project Manager, Multnomah County Community and Adolescent Health team with a passion for spreading accurate health and life information to youth to ensure they have a full toolbox of knowledge going into adulthood. She learned about public/community health accidently while working at YMCA in La Crosse Wisconsin during an ice breaker activity with a co-worker and her path has been clear ever since. When not working or being a board member she is enjoying all the amazing things the PNW has to offer with her husband, reads and lounges with her dogs, gardens, nerds out on Doctor Who (primarily new Who), listens to podcasts for hours, and is currently building a whole human being - ETA December 2024.

    Katie joined the Board in December 2023, after serving as a Student Health Advocate with OSBHA in 2022. She is most interested in promoting health equity and expanding access to healthcare. She views working with OSBHA as an important part of accomplishing this goal, and contributing to forward change in health accessibility and advocacy. In her spare time, Katie enjoys exploring local restaurants and walking with her dog.

    Peyton joined the board of the Oregon School-Based Health Alliance (OSBHA) in 2022 to advance their commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in healthcare. As a low-income, first-generation immigrant from Vietnam, Peyton's personal experiences drive their passion for creating equitable access to healthcare and education for underserved communities. With an MBA, MHA, and a BA in Business Administration and Public Health, Peyton has held roles at the CDC Foundation and Public Health Institute, focusing on public health, DEI, and community outreach. In their role at OSBHA, Peyton is dedicated to using their skills and experience to support initiatives that promote health and well-being across communities.

    Alessandra immigrated from South Korea with her family when she was 10 years old and is currently a senior at Cleveland High School. She has always cared about social justice and how marginalized groups are disproportionately influenced by social issues. She is passionate about accessible mental health services and believes everyone should have equal access to quality healthcare. She worked with OSBHA as a Student Health Advocate last year and is excited to continue her advocacy work this year as a Legislative Advocate Intern. In her free time, Alessandra likes to hang out with her cat, make art, and listen to music.

    Fartuun Yusuf is a current sophomore at Lewis and Clark College, On the pre-med track, majoring in Biology and minoring in Health Studies. Fartuun is a Peer Advocate with the Youth Corps Interns at the Oregon School-Based Health Alliance. Fartuun Yusuf previously worked for the OSBHA, as a Student Health Advocate for about 3 years and is excited to continue supporting students who are passionate about healthcare advocacy!


    Fartuun has a passion for social topics that impact minorities, being a Woman of color and a Muslim. Healthcare topics such as mental health, access to resources, and health topics that are viewed as taboo from a cultural perspective. Fartuun wants to learn and gain new experiences about healthcare topics that are affecting the youth while also contributing a different perspective to the conversation.

    Fartuun Yusuf is involved with the Black Student Union and the Community Global Health Center at Lewis and Clark College, the Arabic Club, and the Pre-Health Club. Fartuun believes that healthcare access and education on racial disparities/inequities in healthcare should be available to every student. Fartuun strives for a Master's in Public Health and Medical school after graduation. In her free time, she enjoys reading, dabbling in different areas of art, and grabbing boba tea with her friends.

    Lane is a first year student at Willamette University studying Public Health. He grew up in Portland and is passionate about transportation access, healthy communities and youth leadership. He was introduced to advocacy work through organizations such as the Multnomah Youth Commission and Youth Action Councils and hopes to continue his work in health policy. In his free time, he enjoys backpacking, thrifting, and rugby.

  • Lekhana Vaddadi (she/her)

    OSBHA Youth Corps Youth Health Advocate

    Lekhana Vaddadi is a Youth Health Advocate who works as a Youth Corps Intern with Oregon School-Based Health Alliance and is to use her voice and make sure healthcare is available to everyone, specially for youth. She wants to expand her knowledge in the healthcare field and also help implement more student-based healthcare centers throughout Oregon. She is a senior at Westview High School in Beaverton. She is involved with HOSA, a club to prepare students who want to go into the healthcare field, where she is the Vice President of Membership. She is also involved with soccer, piano, and volunteering at OMSI and a local nursing home. Lekhana likes to go on runs or go out with her friends! Lekhana is interested in pursuing a career in healthcare after high school. She hopes to make change with the time and platform she has with OSBHA and create equity in healthcare.

    Priya Gadhe, a high school senior at Beaverton Academy of Science and Engineering, serves as a Youth Health Advocate at the Oregon School-Based Health Alliance. Priya aims to pursue a career in Public Health,  with a focus on becoming a biomedical engineer, specializing in assistive technology, combining her passion for health equity and innovative solutions. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies and experimenting with cooking and baking. Her goal is to contribute to positive change by leveraging her skills and knowledge to bring health equity to those who need it most.

    During her free time, Patti enjoys exploring the beautiful state of Oregon through hiking and photography, and traveling to different parts of the world to learn about cultures and local cuisine. Wherever she goes, she always looks forward to returning home to her favorite people-her 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

    Chloe is passionate about serving her community and youth access to health services. Being a Student Health Advocate, Chloe wants to advocate for these things hands-on and gain insight into others experiences as well. An entrepreneur and student at Catlin Gabel, Chloe hopes to continue to pursue her passions for business and community service. Chloe is a member of Tigard Youth Advisory Council, is a Young Professional with OCT, and regularly volunteers throughout the Tigard-Portland area. Chloe loves to do aerial silks, eat good food, and loves fashion!

  • Geneva Lehto | Grant High School

    Some things Geneva is passionate about include equal access to healthcare, holistic health approaches, and advocating for those with disabilities and chronic illnesses. Geneva is hoping that being a Student Health Advocate will expand their knowledge about healthcare and barriers that one might face while seeking it, and help gain essential skills that will be needed in a future career. Geneva plans to major in Biology in college, and pursue a career in either research or the field of healthcare. Outside of SHA, Geneva volunteers for Camp Blue Spruce, a camp for kids with food allergies, and is involved in NHS and theatre. In their free time, Geneva loves reading, going for walks, listening to music, and having dinner parties with friends.

    Grace aspires to be an advocate for health equity and a voice for her community, and she believes that being a Student Health Advocate will help further these goals. As a part of SHA, Grace hopes to elevate her advocacy skills and expand her knowledge in healthcare in order to maximize the positive impact she can make on her community. Ultimately, Grace aims to use her passion and love for science to serve the public through clinical research and healthcare policy advocacy. In addition to SHA, Grace is a Red Cross Field Ambassador, a member of the Mayor's Youth Advisory Board for the city of Beaverton, and a Teen Tech Center Facilitator at OMSI. She is a competitive fencer and a mint chocolate chip enthusiast! In her free time, Grace enjoys watching the clouds, reading her biology textbook, and listening to alternative R&B.

    Hai is a student with a commitment to spread the message of global health and well-being. He carried his passion into SHA - starting the journey with the smallest steps: advocating for his community, and the world around him. With aspirations to be a Nurse Practitioner after high school, Hai seeks to impact and improve the lives of those around him. Beyond the academic setting, Hai also is a varsity Speech and Debater along with volunteering across diverse organizations, covering numerous aspects of life.

    Luke is an aspiring freshman at Summit High School in Bend OR and joined SHA to make a difference in his community. His brother, Joseph, has special needs and Luke has always wanted to be able to open doors for people like his brother. He hopes to join his sister at the University of Notre Dame and major in engineering. He is a part of TCHA (Teen Community Health Advocates) and Speech and Debate. In his free time, he enjoys playing baseball and basketball, hanging out with friends, and reading.

  • Mackenzie Devereux (she/her) | Ida B. Wells High School

    For as long as she can remember, Mackenzie's call to service is where she finds fulfillment - especially when this passion is combined with her interests. Connecting with her community as an Ambassador Girl Scout, Red Cross Club President, dance teacher, and tutor, Mackenzie enjoys incorporating service into every facet of my life. This is further exemplified in her future plans to earn a  M.D./Ph.D. to become a surgeon and biophysical researcher. Mackenzie is thrilled to have this opportunity working with both peers and professionals to improve the state of student healthcare resources and opportunities.

    The topic of accessible healthcare has always been a priority to Nicole. As an underrepresented minority, Nicole strives towards making a difference. From volunteering at homeless shelters, to voicing opinions at district board meetings, she is there. In her school, Nicole is a devoted advocate for social justice and student representation, and figures taking this opportunity as a Student Health Advocate aids her voice in the spread of accessible healthcare at school.

  • Olivia Phan (she/her) | Centennial High School

    SHA aligns with my goals to make health care accessible for anyone despite circumstances. Through SHA, I hope to bridge the gap in healthcare for marginalized groups. I I want to go into biomedical engineering to develop imaging technology that is effective and readily available. I am currently conducting research on protective methods to shield healthy cells during radiotherapy for cancer and hope to continue research in college. In addition to accessible health care, I am also passionate about STEM opportunities for youth. I created after-school science programs at multiple schools in Gresham. In my free time, I love dancing. Creative outlets like dance help keep my mind flowing and active after spending lots of time analyzing data or doing problem sets.schools in Gresham.     Ruby has always wanted to work in the medical field, specifically pediatrics so being a student health advocate is important to them because Ruby can help ensure everyone has accessible health care from a young age no matter their race or income. Ruby’s taking the first steps to their future working in the hospital by volunteering at OHSU with much enjoyment. Outside of Ruby’s interest in health care and nursing, Ruby is really passionate about fashion and makeup.

  • Sabrina Zhang (she/her) | West Linn High School

    Through SHA, Sabrina hopes to not only be given a platform and community to express her ideas, but also provide healthcare access towards her fellow student peers. In and outside of school, Sabrina is involved in conducting scientific research, taking long walks with her Sony camera, and creating meaningful impact through her own organization - Bits of World (@bitsofworld on insta!). She is also a huge fan of weekend boba runs, and staying at home to cook anything she is craving for!

  • Stella Fergeson (she/her) | Ida B. Wells High School

    Stella has always aspired to be a pediatrician because of her love for science as well as her passion for the wellbeing of children. Her dedication to this has grown to wanting to make a positive difference in the field, and Stella saw this as an opportunity to start while in high school! As a student health advocate, her goal is to gain insights into student health centers that are in place, and to advocate for enhanced care for students locally and statewide. Stella hopes to learn how to use my voice and ultimately impact student healthcare and equality. She has played softball her whole life, is a leader of the Multnomah Community Outreach group, Red Cross Club, Asian and Pacific Islander Club, and also works as a summer camp counselor.

  • Sumanaa Rajagopal (she/her) | Westview High School

    Sumanaa finds purpose as a Student Health Advocate, driven by the firm belief in accessible healthcare for everyone—an essential aspect of what SHA contributes to. Sumanaa’s aspirations include attending a four-year university with the ultimate goal of becoming a doctor or earning a Phd. Beyond academics, Sumanaa actively engages in various extracurriculars, serving as a mentor in the LLS student visionary program, and expressing their artistic side through graduate Bharatanatyam dance and Carnatic violin. During downtime, you’ll likely find Sumanaa hanging out with friends, cooking and baking, and traveling!

    As a Student Health Advocate, Tracy’s role aligns seamlessly with their life values and goals, rooted in a passion for helping others, activism, and advocacy. Tracy’s commitment to making a positive impact in the community can also be reflected in my participation in the Multnomah Youth Commission, Portland Bureau Advisory Committee, Youth Action Council, and more. Tracy’s aspirations for the future is to attend a four-year college and major in business administration/finance. Tracy aspires to become a lawyer and/or a business executive. In their free time, Tracy likes to listen to the endless amounts of atmospheric instrumental mixes out there while painting or other crafts such as jewelry making. Tracy enjoys playing volleyball, thrifting, and doing nails!

  • Zoey Mcknight | Metro East Web Academy & Mt. Hood Community College

    Being a student health advocate lets Zoey express their passion for mental health issues and Zoey gets to bring real change to important topics. Zoey’s goal is to bring compassion and love into all spaces of advocacy. Zoey is working towards a social work degree and is excited to both legislatively advocate and directly help people. Outside of school and SHA, Zoey enjoys church, being in community, and volunteering.
